The sun has set on the final day of Friday Free Practice for the 2022 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, and things got a bit heated towards the later stages of FP2!
Friday Free Practice has concluded at the Grand Ridge Brewery Australian Round and it was Aruba.it Racing WorldSSP Team rider Nicolo Bulega who topped the combined standings. Bulega managed to pip Frederico Caricasulo’s best time by a marginal 0.040 seconds after the two 45-minute practice sessions.
It was Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) who put in the fastest lap of the opening session. Rea put together his fastest lap when it mattered, finding 2 tenths to cross the line with a 1:31.284, just 0.022 seconds clear of Bautista.
While the 2022 World Supersport Champion Dominique Aegerter was looking somewhat untouchable in FP1, it was ultimately Althea Racing’s Frederico Caricasulo who lead the way with 1 minute remaining.
The 2022 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship is coming to a close this weekend, but riders are just starting to rev up for what is set to be a fire-cracking season finale at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit this weekend, 18th – 20th November.
The 2022 World Champion has been crowned, but there’s still history set to be made this weekend for the twelfth and final round of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, Grand Ridge Brewery Australian Round. Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit is set to claim back the record for most WorldSBK races run. Falling behind Assen this year, WorldSBK will be looking to wrap up its 64th race at Phillip Island, with the circuit first making its WorldSBK debut back in 1990.
