The Steven Walter Children’s Cancer Foundation was formed in honour of Steven Walter, a young boy from Sydney who loved everything about motorcycling. Steve was diagnosed with cancer in 1993 when he was only 11 years old and sadly passed away in 2000. Before he passed away he asked his family and friends to hold an event to raise money for research into a cure for childhood cancer.
From humble beginnings in 2001, the Snowy Ride has grown to become a highlight for motorcyclists who enjoy riding around the highest points in Australia. Steve’s legacy continues to be honoured today through the work of SWCCF and its committed volunteers. With the Snowy Ride, other fundraising initiatives and partnerships with valued sponsors, SWCCF has raised in excess of $6 million for research into a cure.
