The 2019 FIM World Supersport 300 Championship landed at Donington Park for the sixth round at the Prosecco DOC UK Round, July 5-7.

Phillip Island Circuit backed Tom Bramich (Carl Cox-RT Motorsports by SKM-Kawasaki) was determined to rectify his previous DNF and produce a solid race result.

Achieving his first Top 10 finish and securing championship points, the 22-year-old Australian was pleased with his results at Donington.

“This has been our best weekend yet this year and I’m content with the improvements and progress we are making”

Said Bramich.

With more than 50 riders on the 2019 WorldSSP300 grid, practice and qualifying sessions are split into Group A and Group B, with the top 30 from the two groups qualifying for Sunday’s race. For all riders who qualify outside of the top 30, they are granted one final opportunity to line up on the grid with a ‘last chance’ race on Saturday afternoon, and the top six over the line will compete in Sunday’s main race.

Bramich, in Group B started his weekend strong in Free Practice 1 & 2, ending Friday 13th fastest in Group B and 25th overall.

“It was a relief to have a good feeling on the bike after turning the setup upside down after struggling with feeling in previous races”

Said Bramich.

Saturday was greeted by the familiar English wet weather, causing a slippery Free Practice 3. Despite the conditions, Tom’s confidence with them bike remained, and he placed 8th fastest.

An unfortunate crash on his second flying lap during Qualifying set him back, requiring him to go into the pits to repair a broken lever. Heading back out with only 4 minutes left on the clock, Tom had one last-ditch effort with a final flying lap that would place him 20th on the grid and excel him directly into the main race.

Sunday started strong for Bramich as he placed 10th in the Warm-Up, with the Aussie determined to carry this pace into the race.

“My main goal for the race was to finish and fight for points after a string of many in the last few races”

Said Bramich.

A steady start in the Race had Bramich finding his rhythm early allowing him to chip away at the competition and gain positions. Tom was able to advance 10 positions that would see him finish in a season-best 10th position and secure his first WorldSSP300 Championship points.

“The bike felt really good and I am so happy with the feeling in the race. Finishing in P10 and getting championship points is such a relief for myself, the team and my sponsors”

Concluded Bramich.
