Yamaha Racing Team’s Wayne Maxwell will commence his 2018 season with a one event entry in World Superbikes at the opening round of the 2018 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, Yamaha Finance round at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit from February 23-25.
“It’s a fantastic experience. It is something everyone wants to do, to race at the world championship level and to do it here at the iconic Phillip Island Circuit as part of the first round of the 2018 World Superbike Championship is a great thing.
To be able to ride for my Australian team on my Australian bike, it is going to be a fantastic start to the year.
The bike will be the same spec that it will be in ASBK as WorldSBK, so we are a little bit hindered there but we want to show what we can do.”

Australian representation has been boosted with South Australia’s Daniel Falzon and Goulburn’s Troy Herfoss joining Maxwell with wildcard entries for World Superbikes.
In World Supersport, Goulburn’s new teenage sensation, 17-year-old Tom Toparis, will race against the world’s best as a wild card in World Supersport – alongside Australia’s season campaigners, Anthony West and Lachlan Epis.
