Registrations are now open for volunteer officials at the 2019 Motul FIM Superbike World Championship, Yamaha Finance Round, Phillip Island, February 22 -24
The 2019 season is set to be a thriller with Phillip Island set to launch the world first three-race format at the opening round, as the production-based series receives a massive boost with increased manufacturer support and an impressive line-up of all-new powered-back bikes from Ducati in the V4 R and BWM’s S 1000 RR.
Volunteer officials provide vital assistance to the competitors over the event weekend through a variety of roles including Flag Marshals, Track Marshals, Medical, Fire & Rescue, Recovery and more. Officials have a responsibility for ensuring the safety of competitors and spectators during events.
Everyone is welcome to apply, roles exist that do not require experience and all applications are considered.
Previous world superbike official, Tok O’Kane relishes his involvement in the event;
“There is something so special about being an official at Philip Island that words often fail to express. There is a real buzz that exists. It starts upon arrival as you set up camp and meet your neighbors. I have made life-long friends, we keep in touch after the event even though we are 1000kms away from each other. Why? Because we all share the passion of motorcycle racing!”
Fellow official, Rob Davison volunteers at a variety of motorsport events and finds the world superbikes to be one of his favourite events;
“I look forward to WorldSBK because of its more relaxed atmosphere and I love the competitiveness of the racing at this level, I also liked being involved with other like-minded people and being close to the action trackside”
